Conference summary

On 13th of August, Poornaprajna Institute of Management organised Colloquium on P to P lending. Dr .Yashwanth Dongre, the keynote speaker, enlightened the gathering about the emerging financial trends in the Indian economy. He discussed the mechanism of Peer to Peer lending, the pros and cons and the emerging issues that India may face. He stressed upon the democratization of P2P Lending in India. He opined that though P2P lending has shown signs of quickly adapting to market changes and to broadening access to financial intermediation for borrowers and lenders, it is still a nascent industry and has to demonstrate fully its potential for scalability. He discussed the constraints including regulatory hurdles, limited and inconsistent transparency of information, and marketing challenges that could slow down the industry growth.

The talk was followed by an interaction with the audience where various aspects of P2P Lending were discussed.

Talk on "Employability Skills"

Department of Commerce and Management organised a Talk on "Employability Skills" for the Final BCom & BBA students and those enrolled for Certificate Course Employability Skills on 5th of August 2019. 

Dr. Sureshramana Mayya, Dean, Faculty of Management, PIM Udupi was the resource person. He said: "Employers are often looking for skills that go beyond qualifications and experience. Your education and experience may make you eligible to apply for a job, but to be successful in most roles, you will need skills that you are likely to develop over time. He advised the students to develop the soft skills and they are what make them employable."

Prof. Ramachandra BK. Lecturer in Commerce, MGM College Udupi, on behalf of Bombay Stock Exchange and LOTUS KNOW WEALTH Mumbai,delivered a lecture on 'Capital Market Awareness, Introduction to Mutual Fund and Financial Reporting'. As a Resource Person he guided the students about investment which give maximum returns. He discussed investment avenues like FD, SB, Money market accounts, investments in Gold, short term debt funds etc. He also advised the students to learn about short term investment plans with high returns to make their money grow and successfully meet their financial requirements.
