The Department of Commerce & Management in its attempt to inspire and encourage students to take up more professional courses, organized a talk on ‘Career in Chartered Accountancy’ on 10^th August, 2021 at 3 PM over Google Meet platform. Chartered Accountancy is one of the esteemed professional courses and has great value and potential job opportunities. Joining CA course rewards a student with through knowledge of the principles of accounting, business law, economics, taxation and other subjects relating to Accounts and Finance streams.

The resource person discussed in detail about the CA course, the various levels of CA exam, the syllabus and pattern for exam and tips and tricks to prepare for the exam. The students were further motivated to have the right attitude towards the course. The Students’ were informed about the CA Foundation coaching provided in the college. The talk ended with students’ interaction and doubts clearing.

The program was attended by the I year students of B.COM and BBA.

ಬುಧವಾರ ಉಡುಪಿ ಪೂರ್ಣ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞಾ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಮಿನಿ ಆಡಿಟೋರಿಯಂ ನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಸರಳ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿದರು.

 ನಂತರ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಯತಿವರ್ಯರು ತನ್ನ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾನಿತ್ವ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರಾಗಿರುವ ಸೌಮ್ಯ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿಯವರು ಬರೆದ ಮೊದಲ ಪುಸ್ತಕಕ್ಕೆ ಶುಭ ಹಾರೈಸಿ, ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳನ್ನು ಬರೆಯುವಂತಾಗಲಿ ಎಂದು ಶುಭ ಹಾರೈಸಿದರು.

ಬಳಿಕ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಖಂಜಾಜಿ ಪ್ರದೀಪ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಪುಸ್ತಕವನ್ನು ಬರೆಯುವುದು ಸುಲಭದ ಮಾತಲ್ಲ, ಆಳವಾದ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರಖರವಾದ ಆಲೋಚನೆಗಳಿಂದ ಮಾತ್ರ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಬರೆಯಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯ ಅದು ಸೌಮ್ಯ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿದೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಶುಭವಾಗಲಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂರ್ಣ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞಾ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರು ಡಾ.ರಾಘವೇಂದ್ರ, ಡಾ.ಜಿ.ಶಂಕರ್ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕ ಡಾ.ಉಮೇಶ್ ಮಯ್ಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಪಿಪಿಸಿಯ ಉಪ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರು ಡಾ.ಪ್ರಕಾಶ್ ರಾವ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಅಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.

 ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಅಧ್ಯಾಪಕಿ ಸೌಮ್ಯ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿಯವರು ನನಗೆ ಈ ಪುಸ್ತಕವನ್ನು ಬರೆಯಲು ನನ್ನ ಗುರುಗಳಾದ ಡಾ.ಉಮೇಶ್ ಮಯ್ಯ ಅವರು ಅವಕಾಶವನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಹಾಗೂ ನನ್ನ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರು, ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರು, ಆಡಳಿತ ಮಂಡಳಿ, ಸಹ ಅಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು ತುಂಬಾ ಬೆಂಬಲ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳು ಎಂದು ನುಡಿದರು

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಣಿಜ್ಯ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಜ್ಯೋತಿ ಆಚಾರ್ಯ ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿ, ಸೌಮ್ಯ.ಎಲ್. ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ವಂದಿಸಿದರು. ಮೀನಾಕ್ಷಿ ಆಚಾರ್ಯ ನಿರೂಪಿಸಿದರು.

resource person  shared his personal experience with regard to CA preparations, he motivated students to take up CA as a goal and need to put effort to achieve it . He gave a practical exposure regarding the difficulties in passing CA. He also spoke about the scope of CA Profession. The lecture was followed by an interactive session with students. Vice principal and IQAC co-ordinator Dr. Prakash Rao, Prof. Shivakumar HOD, Department Of Commerce and Management and all the faculty members of Department were present. Mrs. Sumalatha P J has introduced the resource person and MS.Apoorva Osta has proposed the vote of thanks.

Being adept to the current environment and as an initiative to train our students to become Chartered Accountants ,the Department of Commerce & Management conducted a power talk for students of First year BCOM & BBA on the topic “How to Crack CA?”. 

In his address, CA Lokesh Shetty urged students to rise above mediocre 9-5 job and take up CA as a profession. With real life incidents and anecdotes, sir explained to students why CA was not difficult but different. The key take-aways from the session were:

Ø  Learning Not Reading. One must study for the purpose of learning and not just passing.

Ø  Change in Approach is important as one cannot prepare himself for CA the way he prepares for UG exams. It is important to realize that CA is not Difficult but Different.

Ø  Conceptual Clarity is what is required to clear the CA exams in one attempt.

Ø  Focus & Self- Motivation are the keys to successful completion of the course.Trust, Hard-work, Determination & Commitment will lead to successful results in CA exam. The students interacted with sir at the end of the session and clarified their doubts.

 

CA Lokesh Shetty is a Partner in B V C & Co, Chartered Accountants. He holds the position of Secretary of Udupi branch of Southern India Regional Council of ICAI. Prior to this, he worked as a Chief Accountant for a shipping company in the Middle East. Currently he is a Visiting Faculty in School of Management, Department of Commerce, MAHE Manipal and in Poornaprajna College, Udupi for M.Com. He is an avid speaker in topics relating to taxation & GST.

The purpose of organizing this Virtual workshop is to create awareness relating to Income Tax among High School Teachers and provide them with basic information relating to Income tax.

In the first session, the Resource person discussed the various heads of income of an individual and various deduction available under section 80.

In the second session, the Resource person discussed the Assessment Year & previous Year, New rates, and old rates for Income tax. He also provided information relating to various forms under income tax and filing of returns.
