On 13th of August,
Poornaprajna Institute of Management organised Colloquium on P to P lending. Dr .Yashwanth Dongre, the keynote
speaker, enlightened the gathering about the emerging financial trends in the
Indian economy. He discussed the mechanism of Peer to Peer lending, the pros
and cons and the emerging issues that India may face. He stressed upon the
democratization of P2P Lending in India. He opined that though P2P lending has
shown signs of quickly adapting to market changes and to broadening access to
financial intermediation for borrowers and lenders, it is still a nascent
industry and has to demonstrate fully its potential for scalability. He
discussed the constraints including regulatory hurdles, limited and
inconsistent transparency of information, and marketing challenges that could
slow down the industry growth.
The talk was followed
by an interaction with the audience where various aspects of P2P Lending were
discussed.
